Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities of the Trainer
The selected trainer will undertake the following tasks:

1. Content Design and Development: Prepare and develop a detailed training curriculum and comprehensive training materials (presentations, case studies, practical exercises, and participant handbooks) in Arabic.

2. Training Delivery: Conduct a 3-day interactive training in Erbil, using adult training methodologies focused on participation and skill building.

3. Impact Evaluation: Design and implement assessment tools (pre- and post-training) to measure the level of knowledge and skills acquired by participants.

4. Final Report Submission: Submit a comprehensive training report after the training, including a summary of activities, evaluation results, and future recommendations for team capacity development.

5. Suggested Training Topics (but not limited to):
• Core principles of trauma-informed care (Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, Empowerment).
• Understanding the impact of complex trauma on the mental and behavioral health of returnees (individuals, families, and children).
• Evidence-based interventions for managing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression.
• Brief, scalable psychotherapy techniques appropriate for humanitarian contexts.
• Family therapy fundamentals for supporting family dynamics after return.
• Safe and effective management of group psychosocial support sessions.
• Mechanisms for dealing with the social stigma associated with return.
• Practitioner self-care and strategies for preventing burnout and vicarious trauma.

 

• Languages: Proficiency in Arabic (language of training). Proficiency in English is preferred.

• Location: It is highly preferred that the candidate reside in Erbil, as the offer does not cover accommodation and travel costs.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Qualification:

A degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or a related field.

• Work Experience:

– At least 5 years of professional experience providing mental health and psychosocial support services.

– At least 3 years of proven experience designing and delivering specialized trainings on trauma-informed care and evidence-based psychological interventions.

– Direct practical experience working with displaced persons and/or returnees or conflict-affected populations in the Iraqi context. (Experience with returnees from Al-Hol camp is a strong advantage.)

– Excellent training and facilitation skills with the ability to create a safe and interactive learning environment.
