The five regional offices of the ITC Division of Country Programmes (DCP) are responsible for coherence and impact of ITC’s programmes at the country and regional levels. They build and maintain close relations with partners in ITC’s beneficiary countries to ensure a demand-led approach for all projects. Each office coordinates throughout the project cycle in the design, implementation and monitoring of projects. This position is located in the Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (OEECA). The focus of this job is to the coordination, implementation and monitoring of ITC’s activities and projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned projects and initiatives, etc.; analyzes progress and developments in the implementation of specific projects; contributes to the development of mechanisms for monitoring project implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports (project concepts, annual and quarterly project progress reports, memoranda of understanding with project partners etc.); identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties including from ITC relevant departments; identifies and tracks followup actions.
  • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Coordinates the work of junior staff or consultants on assigned projects.
  • Assists in performing consulting assignments, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions,
  • Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. 
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
  • Participates in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and preparation of related documents/reports.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in business administration, management, economics of a related field is required. 
  • A first-level university degree in the above subjects may be accepted with an additional 2 years of relevant qualifying experience.
Work Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.   
  • Experience in the UN common system is desirable.   
  • Experience working on economic and trade related needs in Eastern Europe and Central Asia countries is desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Russian is required.
